How obligated are we to the Running Track?
Ok I understand that we have a 99 year lease but a thought crossed my mind after we left home and had not even arrived at the kharsi

What if it transpired to be our Stadio delle Alpi, we all copped the hump and fucked it off, as Juve fans did with theirs?

So by extending the current owners plan, they sell to a foreigner with money - then what/

What if they decide its time to build and relocate their club to a proper and owned football stadium? Can they do that? Sure I accept we have to stand the £2.5m year or what ever it is but could we actually leave it or are we obligated to play there for 99 years?

Atletics have a 50 year lease. We could conceivably buy them and the E20 out at any point if our pockets were deep enough (I mean massive) or the contract could be terminated on I think I recall six months non payment of rent.

It will cost a lot of money but they will dig down eventually.

I agreee with that once the world championships are done the government will scale down the legacy bollocks. In fact it may well conspire that the legacy stadim for athletics could be in Liverpool with the council and Everton looking into bidding for the commonwealth games....that'd be a right laugh.

Understand that Gav, but what if we said yours. Pay them the £2.5m a year but built and played elsewhere - can we do that?

I am interested in the obligation of the club to be based there rather than just pay the rent which I accept would be fixed.

I think Crassus means, we retain the London Stadium but a new owner builds a new stadium. Interesting idea. We could potentially sub-lease the London Stadium to Orient and/or others to recoup some of the money, although if we were bought out, the new owners would be rich enough (especially if we stay up and get the TV money) to swallow 2.5 million per year.

Yeah, I should have just waited for him to say it!

In one Gank

Ford own a lot of land along the A13 for example

Juve fans hated that place and ultimately they relocated, a situation I have referred to frequently before and after relocation

My interest is how contractually bound we are to the place beyond the rent

FWIW in its current configuration I agree with Spurs, it is unfit and best ripped down

Re: How obligated are we to the Running Track?
They hated it partly because it was old, decrepit and they couldn't ever fill it due to them not having loads of Turin-based fans.

Talking about leaving it when the paint is barely dry. It's too late, we are stuck with this cunthole.

On The Ball, there are some differences in circumstances but essentially Crassus has drawn a good parallel - you don't ever HAVE to play in a given venue, and fan power CAN work as a pressure group. It's only really money that's an issue. Given that we've paid a drop in the ocean towards this failed venture, a rich and ambitious owner could easily get us a London Stadium sized football ground with the feel of the Boleyn.

Even the keenest in favour of moving to Stratford would welcome that.

Personally, I'd wet my pants laughing if we did that within a short period of time. Then the London Stadium would be as much a white elephant as the Millennium Dome before O2 bailed it out - and no football would ever be played there again.

Partly maybe, lack of fans definitely not

They fill their new home easily

It was the running track, rake and atmosphere they hated

Tomshardware, under the current owners, yes. But they are two OAPs and an employed businesswoman whose every move has been to orchestrate a grand sale.

It's not at all unrealistic really. Shame Crassus isn't rich enough. Or is he?

Juventus new ground is 42k, Stade Del Alpi was 68k.

Juve played there for about 60 years before it was renovated. The capacity was shit as well in the last years they were there, hence the move.

I heard juve fans were dissatisfied with the availability of heated kernel based snacks

I haven't been yet but I have to say it looks fucking shit in to - nothing like it was sold to us. The ha between the fans and the pitch is unbelievable. This idea intrigues me a lot - ringing rough with it would be hilarious!

Actually, I'm getting mixed up with the other athletics stadium they played at before the new stadium.

Re: How obligated are we to the Running Track?
Face - thats bollox mate. They hated the configuration, it was a running track, it was not renovated it was replaced.

Many clubs have played in much loved stadia for many years more than 60 years and adore them.

And finally irrespective of later capacities the attendance percentage against it was miserable and had been for years, it was on the old C4 Gazzetta programme let alone more recently - all down to the gaffe itself

Gank - sadly not
